Mountain Missive Nr. 3
The Duality
The shaking stumps of fingers lost to the cold long ago paint a map into Karrno’s palm. Their eyes meet in pain. You will never walk forever. He leaves his lover behind carrying the relics deeper into the Caves of Reembmeer. Onrrak will guard the entrance one last time, until the enemy finds him or his frozen remains.
Remembering a beginning on a returning newsletter on game design. Mountain Resonance was born out of spite.
An ill birth full of energy. Omen is omen. Ideas of a better mountain-based multi-table TTRPG after a bad sci-fi one. Years in the past Luka Rejec gifted us a map to the Princessberg on which the Winterwhite entity resides. Rejected and powerful. An almost forgotten me wanted to make multi-table event out of this. Is a forgotten me a me or a maybe? Groups of players ascending. Simul-climbing for mayhem. Chaos should’ve reigned, but not all omens come to pass.
Now and always tomorrow, there is a game build for a fist-full of sessions to change something in you. To be remembered for all tomorrows.
In Mountain Resonance all character have lost before they start. Something to the war between two cultures and has little is left to save. If you have been sheltered from loss, lack imagination or pain, roll for it.
What you lost and what you are surviving for:
0 Child: Your youngest child, a baby, what could be more precious?
1 Skill: The one thing you excel at and through which you define yourself.
2 Keepsake: A family heirloom passed down by generations and to be passed down by you, an ancient sword, a beautiful amulet or else.
3 Connection: Your place in nature or a place of solace between sky and earth.
4 Emotion: True love, your hatred towards the colonists or indigenous elders or some other strongest feeling that motivates you.
5 Cornerstone: Something that helps your family or community to survive the trying times, they will perish fast without it.
6 Yourself: Your emotional or physical essence, without it you’re an empty husk or in an old or broken body or with a sense missing.
7 Charge: Something non-human that you are the sole caregiver for, maybe a small animal or a surviving plant.
8 Compass: Your faith or morals that guide you, a promise to yourself or others.
9 Culture: Your place in your community and your racial identity.
What are your two picks?
